Investing in art should be reconsidered. Ive noticed in the past few decades people collect art in the name of money, its price has somewhat become a status. unlike before art was collected for the sole impetus of appreciating the art and its artist. Pieces of art is pretty volatile, like the price of your plane fares. Imagine selling a piece of art for as little as a grain of sand after spending a lot lot more from decades ago, and some deductions like seller's premium. Crazy.

i get the sentiment here. but for me, i buy what i can afford and if i really like it. some of the art i purchased has gone up. lucky me, i guess

and I suggest to whoever who's thinking of collecting art is check auctions. u might get it there cheaper..

yeah, the art market is wild, used to be about passion and appreciation, now it's just another asset class for the ultra rich. Prices swing like airline tickets, one day it's worth a fortune, next day it's barely covering auction fees, unless you're buying because you truly love the piece, it's a gamble.

I personally don't think of art as an investment, it's more like an appreciation of something beautiful and attractive. if it turns out to be valuable, then it's a bonus

I hear you @v0dkaondrocks! It's such a shame when art gets treated purely as a commodity. It turns art collection as an elite exclusive activity, and not so much an appreciation for what it's truly about!

Good to know I share the same perspective and values with members in this online community. So I try to be helpful where and when I can.. I guess it makes the art experience more accessible and inclusive without talking about price tags!

I like how you think. Cheers. Though it can't be helped, money will always be involved in everything whether the artist like it or not. We all have to put food on the table.

Thank you for all of your insights and kind words. While we can't really do anything about it, let's enjoy our artists work.
